I think Microsoft Small Basic with LitDev extension is quite interesting, and suitable for beginners. It can makes 3D game,, but not powerful.

This is my opinion and should be take as such... Pretty much any 'Basic' is suitable for beginners, 'Beginners All purpose Symbolic... etc', assuming of course there happens to be a thriving community and copious amounts of documentation and examples... I am not that familiar with MS Small Basic, but from what I have read, you seem to be right. In this day and age, it is getting harder to interest youngsters to code in Basic, as there are other coding languages that are more powerful and produce results quicker... The majority of today's generation are geared to results that are close enough to 'immediate'...
There tends to be two coding principles (could be more)... Code in such a way as to learn how to logically go about producing the results that you want... or code in such a way as to produce immediate gratification... Either way produces results. Needs and attitudes will determine the path best taken.
The only thing that stands in one's way to code, in Basic or other, is one's choice. Oh, here's an old movie reference... Indiana Jones looking for The Cup, comes across a very old knight guarding a collection of 'cups'... His advice to Indiana was, "Choose wisely".
Babbling again... Obviously low on caffeine...

I also want to make my own Basic version. Recently I got the idea to create a Basic to HTML translator.

I personally would like an application to convert one Basic to another. Back when Basic predominantly used line numbers, several PC magazines printed 'charts' of compared Basic commands, to help the user to convert one Basic to another. That would be handy...

I would like the Basic versions to be compatible with each other, and not everyone has to reinvent the wheel ... For example, I still confuse those square brackets. I still don't understand what is wrong with the parentheses, which are used in most of the basics.

you dont understand hmm ...brackets use is for array or lists and parens are for functions and mathematic stuff so how you know what is what if all is parens ? a(arg) = 4 ..is that function or array ? a[arg] = 4 ..it is array NOT function

Using parenthesis for both functions and arrays make code less clear and may lead to errors when you accidentally use the same name for an array and a function. BASIC to HTML translator? Here it is - www.spiderbasic.com/index.php .

Looks like Aurel was faster and explained the parenthesis problem while I was still checking SpiderBasic website (haven't visited it for a while).

Interesting site. Compiles code to javascript. Not exactly HTML but close enough... lol Loosely based on PureBasic... That is one Basic I have not tried yet... Could be fun! Thank you for the link, Tomaaz. Much appreciated.

ps: The site mentioned a 'free' version but could not find it. Starting price of 49 Euros...

Johnno, you can download the free version from www.spiderbasic.com/download.php . It's not possible to translate programming languages to pure HTML, because HTML is not a programming language. In HTML you can create a structure of your webpage, define what elements will be used and in what order. Then there is CSS to define how these elements will look like (colors, margins, transparency, borders etc.). And then theres is JavaScript - a programming language that lets you manipulate, change and redesign these elements. SpiderBasic is translating BASIC code to HTML/CSS/JavaScript. It's also possible that a server side language is involved, but I really don't know if that is the case here.

Everything is clearly explained on PB and SB websites. No need for guessing or "maybes".
