This sub-forum is for introducing other programming forums on the Internet? I see.

Thank you nOOB on topic and link. On my site i will add link to RCBASIC site and forum. Today i am looking what i have on my hard drives and i almost forget that i have little interpreter unfinished it is micro(A) Interpreter ..i will continue to work on it .It is funny small thing inspired by Jimage Lang ( tokenized java image processing language) I hope that would be similar or simple enough to use as BASIC-Like dialect. In fact tokenizer and expression evaluator are finished ..so next thing is adding commands and event handlers.

Aurel,
I am curious. Are you a 'self taught' programmer or have you completed a form of education? I am just impressed by the fact that you can say, "adding commands and handlers" and then just do it. To quote Darth Vader, "Star Wars: A New Hope (1977)", when Luke Skywalker escapes the trap that was set for him... "Impressive. Most impressive."

But then most of i am self-taught programmer i made Aurel Basic 2006-2007 and yes it sucks because i don't know many things thera are break..ups from programming etc..etc......well i am just a hobby programmer and as such i often forget how to do some things properly..he he.. Well when i said adding commands ..may sounds trivial but is not , another thing i am using Oxygen basic and mr.Charles like to make some quirky changes then i become pissed off , for example i am still using older version of o2(oxygenbasic) which i know what is what. And all that problems ..process is very slow Johnno ..it is not like programming some samples or simple games need lot of thinking and testing and then often developers made bugs...ahh i talk to much ...

When I 'finished' high school there were no home computers... There was no Micro$oft... Pong would be another 2 years later...
I did say that I was old, right? I'm old enough to remember that rainbows were once displayed in black and white... lol
I have always wanted to be a computer programmer but the opportunities were "just out of reach". I built my first machine towards the end of 1979. 1K ram; hexadecimal keypad; 300 baud cassette interface; RF output to a TV. A simple game of shoot the ball as it went across the screen took about 45 minutes to key in. The listing was a poor photocopy of a copy. Lots of mistakes. No editing. Start from the beginning...
Eventually got into IT in about '85 with Yellow Pages as a trainee computer operator... Worked there for almost 15 years and left as a Senior Computer Operator. Whilst there, I never had to by a computer, as Yellow Pages updated their desktop machine each year. If we didn't accept a machine to take home it would be thrown out...
When I started there I got interested in Basic and have been using it ever since. Tutorials; magazines; forums and trial and error have been my tutors over the years... Hence the poor quality of the way I program and the lack of knowledge... Not complaining. I could have made the choice not to get interested in computers... lol
I tried o2 when I moved to Linux but, like most Windows-based programs back then, the success rate was almost zero. SDLBasic; RCBasic; QB64 and Naalaa are my poisons of choice now days. My programming skills have not improved all that much but I still have fun trying...
I had best get back to finishing my coffee.
Many thanks for the info.

I just tried o2, using Wine, on my Linux machine. The IDE ran ok. Some things wouldn't work properly. Sound (midi) and some of the graphics examples. But I was surprised that it started at all... The language itself looks familiar. Of course there were some features I haven't seen before. But that's normal for most languages... lol
There is one thing that you said that I either do not use or do not approve of it being said... "too much" and "cafe" in the same sentence... lol
Oh well... It's almost 10pm here in Melbourne and I have to be up at 5am to do our fortnightly market shopping...

I agree Johnno differencec between windows & linux are sometimes too annoying for me to. On windows things are more easier for BASIC or hobby programmer then on libux. Too many different distros, missing this missing that , i recently download Bacon and found troubles Bad thing that computer were i have my small MiyoLinux (motherboad dead) is gone. i will try install something small on this one more older ..he he

Can I assume that you are looking for a "small" Linux because the machine you intend to use is, let's say, not 'new'?
I have used 'lite' distros in the past and have found many of them lacking this or lacking that... But, hey, I suppose 'that' is why they are called 'lite'. lol. Unfortunately you may have to search a while before you find the distro that best suites your need... But that's half the fun. Going through that many distros you get to 'taste' what a lot of us don't get to do or don't choose to do... If you find an interesting distro, let us know, so we can check it out too?
The differences between Windows and Linux can be frustrating because the reason is so simple. Windows is 'not' Linux and Linux is 'not' Windows. I suppose it's like buying a Jeep and a Porche and getting annoyed that they do not perform the same. Sure, they are both cars, but they are built to perform in a certain way. They both get you from point "A" to point "B"...
This time I have a cup of tea going cold... lol (I know. A 'very' poor substitute for coffee, but a substitute none the less... lol)
Have a great day!
