Python is a nice language, but as you say, a little slow... Lua is ok, but for me, can get a little confusing if the program is getting bigger... FreeBasic comes in 32 and 64 bit for Linux. I have used it a little bit. I use Geany as the IDE and it compiles and runs just fine. Being a HUGE fan of Basic, I agree, that it is the best option. After all, "Go with what you know"... lol
Just woke up and totally caffeine free... I have to correct that.... Have a great day!

Found Ice3D and eventually installed it. Apart from needing the libGLFW3 and libGLFW3-dev libraries, it was some sort of game? and not actually the engine. Apparently it was the result of a 46 hour Jam. I thought a 700k+ file was a little 'light' for a 3D engine... Oh well...

Located S3D. It's a beta 1 version for Windows only. 'That' particular version is no longer under development. Apparently, the author, is working on a better version. The current version contains a buggy 'editor' and cannot export.
I am detecting a pattern... 3D? Is it because Basic is more suited to 2D? Just curious...

After all, "Go with what you know"... lolYeah Johnno yeah ...roule numero uno For example i have a time , i can make simple shooter in Oxygen basic,, ahh only for Windows but i can make it , Peter Wirbelauer made it few years back and run fine. If you first time look that code you will figure in one hour what is what ..for sure even you dont use OxygenBasic. Of course in that specific case you must know how windows API functions works and must know how to use someone else user functions( for graphic) all in all is very simple BASIC program. well ...what to say more ahhhh yes ... I download Godot Engine again... i will try make something really simple It is complex GUI when you must learn how to use tools ,nodes,objects... but i see some very nice games on youtube created with Godot.. huuuuuuuu i talk to much this times....you know i am not gamer i prefer to spending my computer time with lexer, parsers ...and similar stuff Aurel (with new avatar..he..he)

I had download Oxygen some time ago but had not got around to testing it. Even though it is Windows based it seems to run ok using "Wine". That is, the IDE, loading and running (F5). From what I have seen of the demo files, it seems to be a fairly straight forward basic language. Most of them "included" the SDL library so I'm not too sure how that is referenced through the examples... 'Compile and run 64 bit' crashed each time. The '32 bit' compiled fine. I'm actually surprised that Oxygen ran at all... Now to check out the 'help' system....
Godot is pretty cool. Can do both 2D and 3D. Stuff can be made without coding (it's basically 'event driven') but it does have its own scripting language - GDScript - I don't know how easy the language is as I have never used it. I've run the demos and worked my way through some tutorials. As a newbie, I found the learning curve a little steep but after practice, that shouldn't be a issue. I have enough problems creating 2D stuff... So the 3D side of things I haven't even looked at... lol
I like to play games - mainly 'old school'. I like to make / recreate games - not very good at the moment - But, the one area of gaming that I have absolutely mastered - is getting killed off! Absolute Pro when it comes to either being blown up; shot or eaten... lol
Time for a cup of tea... and maybe a level of Doom or two....

Discussions between both of you are very, very interesting and creative! Your discussions may inspire many people. Can we ask Itch.io's staff to add RCBasic to the tool list on Itch.io? Example, Press 'More information' and you can see 'Made with Aseprite, Godot' paranoodle.itch.io/elf-gameIf RCBasic is on the tool list of Itch.io, many indie game developers will realize that RCBasic exists in this world! Sure!

kennn RCBasic is now on itch.io. johnno56 I have played around with Godot a little bit. If you are not a huge fan of python you are not going to like GDScript.

kennn RCBasic is now on itch.io. Ok, so good!! I think that Johnno56 should be able to choose "Made with RCBasic" in "More information" section when Johnno56 uploads projects to the Itch.io account.
