BlitzMax: Found a Linux version: BlitzMax_linux_x64_0.105.3.35.tar.xz
Installation was not necessary. Tarball extracted to it own directory which could be placed anywhere on the system. The MaxIDE executable fired up the IDE and proceeded with the examples. Building the programs were a lot slower than Blitz3D and several examples crashed during the build. After eventually locating and installing a slew of missing libraries the program would finally build and execute. Max seems to have a slight problem with the system resolution settings. For example: All the examples were 'hard coded' for 640x480 where as my screen is set to 1920x1080. The program would magnify the output to fit 1920x1080 but would then change my display to 640x480. Giving me this hugely magnified image.
Although the IDE loaded and executed correctly, I cannot say the same for the output. Too much "fiddling" to "fit" the game fully on the screen. BlitzMax has had its 5 minutes of fame... It's gone.
