Ah... You are too kind... But it wasn't just 'me' who made the game possible...

It never really is, but it was your idea your organization, the meat of the work was all you. Everyone is glad to help, but accept praise when you've earned it.

Ah... You are too kind... But it wasn't just 'me' who made the game possible... Hello, two things: 1. Why not upload to itch.io/profile/johnno56? 2. This is about the avatar: only use a fixed sprite. A fixed sprite will be less than 1 MB.

The competition game submission closed just before midnight on the 10th of May. There will be a one week period, to allow participants to remove any random features, before voting on the 18th of May... I know it's only 168 hours, but THIS 168 hours, seems to be moving too slowly... I know, I know... You are right! The rate at which time passes has been quite constant for such a long time... It's our 'perception' of the passage of time that can be influenced by many factors... My apologies, I should have rephrased "moving too slowly". But it IS! It's 'passing' too slowly... *sigh*

Kennn,
Thanks for the link... Kind of like, mini-reviews, of each game submitted... all seven of them... I thought there would be heaps of entries... Oh well... On the positive side, I guess a one in seven chance, would be better than one in many, right?

First this person wrote a long article!!! syntaxbomb.com/index.php/topic,7496.msg347042870.html#msg347042870 (Add www.)
Then this person tried to reply to the above person: syntaxbomb.com/index.php/topic,7496.msg347042871.html#msg347042871 (Add www.)
A lot of feedbacks for your game so far. Maybe they will understand more if you can explain directly.

I have read both articles, but until the voting starts, only "bugs" can be fixed. (according to the rules) As my 'issues' are not bugs the changes needed would not be permitted. The same would go for the other entrants. I am not permitted to explain anything about "my" game, as that would be considered as "self promotion". But, like the other guys, I can comment about anyone else's games. But not to the point that I may influence the voting... It would be best to say nothing... "and let the chips fall where they may." I have already communicated to Steve Elliot and told him that his idea of using "z and x" to raise and lower the shield was a good idea. But, because the modification is not a "bug", I cannot change it. I have added "z and x" the game on my machine... (pgup and pgdn still works)... But, he IS correct, "z and x" are the better choice... They also made a good point about the "enter" key... I will try to fix that later... I still have not forgotten about the power ups... Have you tried playing the other competition games yet? There are some really good ones in there... Apart from the PureBasic game and mine, all the others seem to be using some kind of "game creator" or "framework"... PureBasic and RCBasic would find it a huge struggle to produce the same kind of results... Being a Linux user I don't have access to the same engines that the others use... The one's that I do have, I am not proficient enough with the software, to be able to create similar games. Besides, I enjoy using RC and if 'that' is not good enough for them, then it's 'their' loss not mine... In a few days, bug fixing, should be complete and the voting will start... Until then, I will research your power-ups, by examining other "Basic" games that use power-ups... I have a sneaking suspicion that I may need to brush up on "timers"... Sounds like fun...

johnno56,
I am so busy today. I try to continue to read their discussion! They still talked about the slowness problem. One post mentions: syntaxbomb.com/index.php/topic,7496.msg347042887.html#msg347042887 (add www.) "If other games (more "requiring ones") work well in a virtual system the Delta Timing you mentioned might indeed be the culprit: it just might not exist. We saw a lot of games here which just relied on 60 fps (or some even on 144). If they do not do proper delta timing then it is their fault. Virtual Computers (with the option to "emulate slow computers") can help spotting them. Just to say "the others run non-virtual Windows and it works there" can work if the amoun of "the others" is high enough. With less luck "the others" just run more potent computers. Yet most of our games should just work on _any_ 2010 or newer computer. Even with "igp" (Intel HD 3000 or something) it should work. But you know ... home devs can become lazy as soon as it "works on their computer". People using "frameworks" (AGK or so) migh benefit from the graphics/audio/...stuff already being kind of optimized for them." Do you have any idea? It is because I remember that a complex delta time subroutine is in the entry.
