Hi.
I have just downloaded RCBasic from itch.io and when I launch it, a black window pop-up for a moment and then nothing. Did try both 32 and 64bit. Did try compatibility mode after which RCBasic was requesting Admin permissions which I never grant to anything unless I know what is it doing exactly. I can not see the reason why RCBasic would need admin rights, if it trying to write a protected area, let me choose where I want it to write maybe so I can choose a folder that is not protected.
So is there any way to currently run RCBasic without admin permission on Windows 10 64bit?
Thank you.

Okay. So I managed to launch Geany but when I open an RCBasic project from the examples and try to build and run it, it is saying rcbasic is not recognised as an internal or external program error code 9009. The documentation saying it is comes preconfigured on Windows, so what else I can try? Or this is why is it asking for admin permission to install a command line tool?
I won't run it as admin, is there any other way?
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, as I mainly use Linux I cant be of much assistance, except the windows build worked flawlessly on my Windows 7 and Windows 10 machines, but I installed them as intended. There was a portable version I beleive which you can run from a stick I thought....will investigate further but might have to wait for n00b to help you out.

Download the newest version from the download section on this forum, V3.12 as of me writing this, I just tried it and it works perfectly with no admin privileges required. It contains the portable Geany I mention before, and you extract it where you wish. Also refrain from listing non bug related issues in the bug section it sometimes creates confusion, thanks.

Welcome to the forum. On Windows, run start_editor.bat. It adds rcbasic to path for the session of geany. Once geany is open, save your file with ".bas" extension and then you will be able to compile and run your code.
