Yeah... I had thought of pixel-based but hesitated. I suppose I can still remember pixel-based collision from the "old days" (80's-90's) and how it impacted performance. It just seemed like a lot of processing to the value of a bunch of 'leading' pixels for a colour change... But, I suppose with the advanced power of CPU's and GPU's, pixel checking may not be such an issue any more...
Ghosting. Now that you mentioned it, I did notice that the player would 'miss' the coins, when jumping at an angle. Probably related to the embedding issue (a guess). But, if a simple AABB collision function was used, that issue could disappear? Player and coin collision may need a rectangle/ellipse collision system. But, because of the size of the player and coin, AABB should be enough. (I have AABB and Rect/Ellipse routines)
Eleven attempts you say? Even though I wrote the beastie you would think that I could do better that eleven... Unfortunately, I even get killed off in my own game... That should speak volumes about my playing 'skills'... lol. Eleven? Well done!
Ah. Bug hunts. I am 'very' familiar with those. Not always successful but familiar... Best of luck.
It's gone 0930; Coffee consumed; Coding 'day-off' - Might fire up Doom or Doom2.
I haven't forgotten about Trek. I'm trying to focus on one project at a time... not easy... but it does reduce the stress levels... lol
Time to "dust off" DOSBOX... and do a bit of Doomage....

Hmm, yes that is a waste of CPU, I meant pixel based movement and AABB and circle for collision.
One project at a time...whoa that's unheard of...I have an issue with that, I also have an issue with "Feature Creep" where I cannot just make something simple and build on it later, I start out simple then its just crazy amount of ideas come flying out and I never get done...My engine is the only thing I am sticking to my guns about, yes I still suffer from feature creep, but I keep making it better, and when its at a respectable level, move onto one other project.....HAHA like that will happen.
Well I am still very interested in your trek game. Can't wait to try it out.
