I installed all the same software on both Solus and Fedora and each of them ran just fine. I think its just an issue with Ubuntu. I had Ubuntu 22.04 on there for a year without issues so its probably that Canonical rushed this release out without much testing. But you are right, I probably should not have rushed into installing the new version the day it came out. In my defense, you would expect a distro like Ubuntu, Red Hat, Oracle, etc., to have the highest standards of quality on release since they have millions of dollars in funding.
I have been on Fedora for about 4 days and its been pretty good. I am so used to APT that using DNF is kinda weird but I got everything working great now. The reason I wanted to upgrade so quickly is that I got a new pen display, the XP Pen Artist 24 pro. I had some working drivers for it but I wanted to take advantage of the kernel level drivers with the latest kernel. Also proton has better compatibility on newer distros as well.
Also, I have a Windows machine setup already since I need it for RCBasic development. But my main machine is always going to be a linux machine. I have had an issue with Ubuntu for years. I know Linux Mint is pretty good but I really like the Gnome Desktop and Mint does not ship with it. I was a Pop OS guy for a long time but they have not shipped an updated version of there distro in over 2 years now which is unacceptable for my use case.

In regards to distros: Linux Mint is still running on kernel 5.15. Fedora 4.0 kernel 6.8.5. Ubuntu 24.04 kernel 6.8. Ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.15. Solus 4.5 kernel 5.15.145
The current Linux kernel is 6.8.9 (only just released)
So, out of those few distros, Fedora may be the better choice in regards to up to date drivers. I have no idea as to why LM is "dragging their heels" in regards to using a better kernel... It could have something to do with Wayland. LM does not as yet fully support it... (my guess)
Anyway... Sounds like fun and games are on the cards...
ps: Update: Pop OS released 22.04 on 25th April 2024 and uses kernel 5.16.19 (still lagging back with LM...)
