The new release is available from the download page with a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. It also reduces the number of available canvases from 16 to 8 to save memory and enhance rendering speed on older hardware and mobile devices. The editor is gone. I know I have been saying for a long time that I was dropping the editor but I have finally decided it was time to let it go. I have made sure to include the geany syntax files with both the windows and linux releases. I personally use geany and I highly endorse it but I encourage you to use any editor you choose going forward. I also finally started hosting games on rcbasic.com. If you write an awesome demo or game and would like to showcase it on the website just post it in the projects section and put in your post that you would like your project featured. I made some improvements to the manual as well. Also, I have been working on a gui library for my current project and as soon as I make a few more tweaks to it I will make that available to the rcbasic community as well. I would like to say thanks to this community for staying somewhat active in my absence. I have been going through a lot of changes this year with moving to a new city, starting a new job, and trying to finish other projects I have had on the back burner for a while now. Seeing even a little activity here has motivated me to continue working on this for as long as I have. Here is to many more good things to come this year.

Hi, I have installed Geany but Geany is too complicated. I still don't know how to set up.
Thanks!

I am on linux but this should be mostly the same on windows.
1. Install Geany 2. Rename filetypes.rcbasic to filetypes.freebasic and then copy the file 3. Goto the geany config folder. Here is the exert from the Geany documentation telling you where to find it:
Paths on Windows
The system path is the data subfolder of the installation path on Windows.
The user configuration directory might vary, but on Windows XP it's: C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\geany On Windows 7 and above you most likely will find it at: C:\users\UserName\Roaming\geany
4. Go into the filedefs folder
5. Paste the filetypes.freebasic folder that you renamed and copied in step 2
6. Start geany up
7. In the menu goto Build->Set Build Commands
8. If you are on linux then just put this in the compile line: rcbasic_build "%f" If you are on windows then you need to put the absolute path to where rcbasic_build.exe is at like this: "C:\Users\n00b\Desktop\rcbasic\rcbasic_build" "%f"
9. If you are on linux then just put this in the execute line: rcbasic "./%e"
If you are on windows then you need to put the absolute path again ex.: "C:\Users\n00b\Desktop\rcbasic\rcbasic" "./%e"
10. Once you have got it setup you should just be able to compile and run rcbasic programs by saving them as *.bas and then going to Build->Compile to compile a *.cbc file and then Build->Execute to run it
