Hello, here is the newbies again (but very old man... i was coding in the 80' on ZX81 !!!) LOL
I am a litte disapointing about the procedure to install the IDE (Geany)
- should rename a file in RC (filetypes.freebasic) - should copy this file somewhere in windows folder
Why there is any official light IDE like NAALAA or SDLBasic (a choice of the the creator ?) Well. It works.
BUT
Because of that (filetypes.freebasic) I suppose that i cannot create a USB key "stand alone" with RC basic on it ? (I want to use RC only on my USB key, so I can swap with any computer, without installing on each, without copying this filetypes.freebasic)
I don't know if it is clear LOL, with my poor english. I ask this because with BLITZ it was possible : all was on my USB key... so I was coding on several pc with no problem...
Thanks ! So exciting with this RCbasic

yes it's fabulous for Blitz basic : i just need to copy all the files on USB Drive... and it become a real stand alaone and work on any PC. I am free to code everywhere !
I hope it is possible with RC if someone can explain the procedure to use RCBasic + IDE on USB Drive... without installing filetypes.freebasic on the destination PC, I would be great.

As i stated before there is a geany portable for running Geany on a usb stick. www.geany.org/Download/ThirdPartyPackagesThe best course of action would be to download it, then follow n00bs video instructions on how to set it up, I would imagine the freebasic.filetype would just get replaced on the stick and it would work, then you set your paths to RCBasic on the usb drive and see if it works.

Hey guys sorry for being offline so long, there has been a lot going on with Cinco de Mayo, Mothers Day, new Movies coming, and Work. To answer your question, I am actually not sure how to setup geany portable. TBird is right in that I stopped including the IDE because I was spending more time working on the IDE than RCBasic itself and it seemed like a waste of time. It is actually still bundled in the linux release mainly because it I didn't want to mess with the installer script and the linux editor is somewhat stable. The windows version had bugs that I could not even explain.
I should also note that while I include geany syntax files and instructions you could write a program in any text editor and compile it. Its just a compiler and runtime similiar to Java or C#.

I will try it when I get home. In theory all you should have to do is specify a relative location rather than an absolute location because everytime you plug the usb stick in it will get mapped differently. If I get it working I will post a video on it.
