I would agree with you there, there are so many open source or plain free or dirt cheap options out there, but some people have a unnatural skill where as the saying goes could sell someone dirt for the price of silver....
Although, there are many ways to make money from a language such as tutoring, paid scripts, paid priority feature additions....if the language was popular enough these might fly, but then you venture into 'The Game Creators' zone, a company I have little respect for due to their business practices but thats another topic...

I mostly agree as well. But RCBasic has helped me out financially in that it impressed my current employer enough to offer me a job even though I only have a high school diploma. If you want to develop software that can make money you would be better off developing business software. Most large corporations would rather pay for software then use the free alternatives because they have this idea that if something is free it must be inferior to the paid option.
Unless its a video game or production software, most home users don't really pay for software at all these days. That is why many businesses are moving to the SAAS (Software-As-A-Service) model.

Rapid development is a merit of Cerberus-X. However, I really think that Cerberus-X's syntax is not user-friendly or beginner-friendly. Therefore, making a lot of money is nearly equal to an impossible mission.

Thanks but I am still learning just like everyone else.
I hope the Cerberus-X project is successful. He seems to have a decent size user base so he could possibly make it profitable but I don't think it is going to financially sustainable. Only time will tell.

Some more opinions...
Requirements of a big user base of a game language in general:
1. Beginner-friendly syntax.
2. Active development(add new features to the language software regularly and have a roapmap)
3. Plenty of documentation (manual, tutorials and examples)
4. A persuasive official website. The site needs to be visually appealing, polished and professional.
