I'm trying to install and use RCBassic on 64-bit Porteus (based on Slackware). Installed all dependencies, but when I try to run anything I get This program was not built for this version of the runtime. Any ideas?

You did not compile the program. You have to compile your *.bas program and before you run it like this:
rcbasic_build myprogram.bas
This will create "myprogram.cbc" if it was successful. You can run it with this command:
rcbasic myprogram

Thanx! It's working without problems. I should have RTFM. Well... It's time to register.

I dont even think I ever mentioned it in the manual. The manual talks about how to compile with the editor through the menu. The editor is included on linux if you want to use it. It should be available from the menu once you install but you can also start it from the command line by typing in rcbasic_edit.
There is also a config file for geany that pre-configures rcbasic to be used with it. I made a youtube video about it a while back. Just go in the geany_files folder in the install folder, rename the filetypes.rcbasic file to filetypes.freebasic, and copy the file to your home/.config/geany/filedefs folder.
If you are still confused I will post a link to the youtube video where I go over it. The manual is always a work in progress.

I'll be using Geany. Thanx for the configuration file. It would be possible to create a separate file for RCBasic (instead of using filetypes.freebasic), but we would have to start using a different extension for RCBasic files. I don't use Freebasic, so I'm perfectly happy with the current solution, but if someone would like to use Geany with both Freebasic and RCBasic, it's absolutely possible to do it and I'm happy to help.
