I have been really busy working, haven't touched code in quite awhile now, and probably not for a couple weeks more. Then I can get back at er.
Farming is a black hole for time .
Summer is almost over here, and it's been a very very rainy one, first 60 days of summer it rained 54 of them. Harvest well under way now, yesterday was 6 hours getting crop off, 8 hours fixing...so not the best average lol. Today is looking good though, well chores are done and I have to get swathing. Just wanted to say hi all!

Farming eh? When we were kids, our dad was share-farming a dairy farm 1966 to 1969. We weren't old enough to help out. There were just over 400 acres, even though we were there for about 4 years, there were parts of the farm we never got to see... Dad would be up before daybreak and we wouldn't see him again until after sunset. Most of the time we were at school. Living so far from Melbourne we rarely had visitors and even less contact with family. But dad had to go where work was available...
I cannot speak for the others, but I am getting older and more decrepit, as time passes. But overall I am 'doing' fine... lol My coding time has not been as productive as I had hoped. I am still plagued with the inability to generate unique ideas for games. I seem to be 're-inventing the wheel', so to speak, by converting games created from other basic dialects... and not very well mind you... lol I suppose that coming up with few ideas has got to be better than none... lol
I had to look up the meaning of swathing... Not heard that term before...
So... You are either wrapping things in lengths of material or you are harvesting a crop of some description... I'm going to guess the latter...
Ha. Even at my age I can learn something new... Who knew?
I hope that you finally get some free time to continue coding... But referring to farming as a 'black hole for time' is a little harsh... Well, when I look back on how hard my dad had to work and how little we saw of him, I would probably... You may be right about the black hole.
In the meantime, "Hi!"

Oh time will come, it's a living can't complain too much. 400 acres, that's quite a bit. We run around 2800 acres, but that's with family. My dad, uncle, myself and my wife.
I quite enjoy the farm life!
As I finish this I thought I would have enough time to try n00b's demo but I have to go, I am typing in haste.
"Hi!"

tbird I grew up in the country but farming is just not for me. I am glad you are enjoying it. johnno56 I actually enjoy seeing what old BASIC program you can dig up. Its always interesting to compare and contrast with other dialects.

tbird : I grew up in a middle sized european university town (100k citizens) so farming is well not so known to me. Farming was not so far away from town though in so far my parents bought the milk directly from a famer when I was young.
johnno56: reinventing the wheel is very okay in my mind, there is a saying among artist teachers, when one has copied a thousand artworks (s)he knows how to do art.
For me, well coding daily for at least five minutes to keep on it. Not so productive as I wished but still things progress. Though I found I might have to downsize the level size or rather size of array storing data for levels as I slowly approach the 1gig memory mark and still have a lot of ideas I want to implement in future.

I tried very hard when I was younger to get away from the farm, but as I got older, I started to really appreciate it, no BS, no politics, no boss, just work at something I enjoy, no close neighbours so no one to complain. Good fit for me....really slow internet is a downside lol.
I hope to get some coding in soon, brain is going to be completely lost when I get back at it.
