Since so many developers program games with Love2d Engine+Lua, I visit their forum. Finally, I notice the quantity of the member of their forum. How many? love2d.org/forums/The total number of the member is 20945!!! Although it may be a very huge number, I still have absolute confidence in our community.

I have been using, well tinkering would be the better word, Love2D for quite some time. Development is ongoing, a little slow, but it's still being developed. Most of the tutorials are "Getting Started" based with very few "full" game examples. Aurel is correct. The first version of Love2D (0.1.1) was published on 13th January 2008. Current version is 11.3. This is also a problem... Quite a lot of the demos and tutorials were created with earlier versions and will not run on the latest version - unless they are modified... - assuming the user knows 'how' to modify... lol
That being said, Love2D is a good "beginners" language that has a "Basic-like" feel about it. Learning curve isn't too steep but it will take a bit of getting used to...

Love2D engine and Pygame engine look so similar but Love2D engine is much more popular than Pygame! Why does Love2D surpass Pygame? How? What is the actual reasons? This is a very interesting and inspiring question for every game engine developer. Sure.

Love2D is more popular because it uses lua which is much faster than python. Its the reason why python isn't used a whole lot in game development period. It is one of the slowest programming languages in use today but many of its modules are written in C which helps make up for the speed of the interpreter but is still not going to be able to match the performance of lua which also has many modules written in C.
