I remember a special post written by me: ( rcbasic.freeforums.net/thread/294/extremely-popular-basic-dialects-modern ) I want to ask one good question now. There are many BASIC dialects which are suitable for modern hardware. Why only these six BASIC dialects can be popular in modern world? The six dialects are FreeBASIC, QB64, PureBASIC, AppGameKit, XOJO and B4X family(B4A, B4i, B4J, B4R). ( And why do all other BASIC dialects fail to be popular? )

Actually, i am surprised that we still have Basic running today... Think about it. Basic first came onto the scene in 1964... 56 years ago! If Basic was a car it would be considered a 'classic' or a 'collectors item'. Microsoft Basic appeared around 1975 and by the late 1980's Basic had 'run its course' when higher level programming languages began to emerge. In 1991 Microsoft releases Visual Basic. Basic then enjoys a brief resurgence.
Basic has begun to morph into different flavours of Basic. The most popular, you have already mentioned, are still around and being developed. There are still many more Basic's but most have been abandoned or no longer developed. There are still some user groups out there that use them but mainly for nostalgic reasons. But like most things they will either be forgotten, neglected, archived or deleted.
Why do other dialects fail to be popular? Perspective. In most non-European countries, a Mercedes Benz, is a luxury car. In Germany they're Taxis. Now days, if a Basic does not have a unique feature that makes it 'stand out', it will be treated as 'just another basic' and be left on the shelf.
How can we change 'our' basic from Taxi to Luxury? You are already doing it... The longer Basic is kept alive the sooner it will be classified as a collectable. Create games/apps that people will want to use/play is another way to increase popularity. Promotion. Improve the 'look'. Improve the functions.
Well. I've run out of ideas... (stop laughing) Oh. Coffee could help!

There are some languages that are more "popular" with bigg ?? BUT if you ask in wich programming language is the EASIEST to make programs (no mather which dialect ) then answer is BASIC. There is no any programming language in the world which can beat BASIC in that.
