They just confirm what i am saying all the time , i blame python..it is injected into any freakin linux distro from the begining as you may read you will figure (like figosdev) why, people on linux at the time find it easier to use than perl or ruby . Python is not nice! Beef, Dragon and V? Very special names.

Aurel, you also said that nobody is using Linux so it really doesn't make sense. Especially that Microsoft was for years including/supporting BASIC both on DOS and Windows. BASIC lost because 1) it's not the easiest to learn/use anymore 2) it lacks many advance features 3) there is to many dialects 4) many good BASICs are/were not free (as a beer) to use.

1. I've never said BASIC wasn't easy. It is, but there are several easier languages (Lua, Python, Ruby).
4. There was more commercial BASICs in the past. That was a big mistake. Python, Ruby, Lua, Perl, JavaScript has always been free.
Vlang. I tried both. The problem is this language still changes a lot. The new standard library doesn't work with the older version of V and vice versa. Raylib works with older version, but doesn't with the newest. It's to early to even try this language unless you want to help with developement.

It's worth keeping an eye on V, but it's to early to use it. If you want to try a similar language that is stable and solid then try dlang.org/ .

V is a clone of Go which is a "modern C". D is another "modern C", so... And you don't have to try it. It's not like I care. No one is paying me for making people try D. :-)

I am a 100% Linux user since 2005. I still use basic and have done so for more than 40 years. I realise the limitations of Basic and work within them. I have seen various forms of Basic come and go over the years. But it's still here. Sure, it will eventually pass away like many other languages, but until then I will still have fun learning and coding... Well, as long as the eye-sight remains intact... lol
I also have Python2.7 (came with the OS) and Python3.6. I have used them and found them ok to use.. I cannot compare Python to what is called, more modern languages, because I have no experience using those languages. But for the small games I tinker with, it works fine.
I suppose I will always be a Basic user because I enjoy it so much... even though at times I frustrate myself with stupid coding errors...
Hats off to you guys for being able to learn and master the "newer" languages... I wish I had the time and grey-matter to do the same... lol
Well, that's my 10 cents, for what it's worth... Code on!

Because it's simple. People like to make life difficult for themselves, they probably feel more upset then. Besides, they are susceptible to suggestions, there was some rumor that Basic is lame, there are "modern" languages ... Newer must be better, of course ...
This happens everywhere, not only in computers.
Or maybe they actually think Python is easier ... It sounds like a joke, but everything is possible ...
