I downloaded and install Cerberus, for Linux, and it ran "out of the box". Loading and listing of the examples worked just fine... until I tried to execute/compile/run them...
There is a GLIBC library (ver 2.27) that Cerberus needs to compile on Linux. Normally it would but I am running an older version of Linux Mint. My current version of GLIBC is 2.23
I am using an older version of Linux Mint because my hardware is not quite "up to scratch" for the latest version of Linux Mint.
BUT... I did manage to download last year's version of Cerberus. Now, THAT, version installed and executed without error. The examples ran quite smoothly. Cerberus creates a "mini server" and outputs the examples to the default browser.
Like SDLBasic and Naalaa, and RCBasic for that mater, Cerberus has a small development team, but Cerberus is very actively developed and has quite a sizable community. All these applications are primarily for 2D usage, some do a bit of 3D and as such, cannot hope to compete in the "world" of programming. 3D games will always be more popular than 2D games, but as long as applications, such as ours, continue to produce 2D gems, our little corner of the programming world, will be all that we will need.
Cerberus looks like a powerful engine and could go quite far... but as for me... I'm not sure if I want, or have the time, to learn a new language... I think I will leave that to our younger generation... lol

I downloaded and install Cerberus, Cerberus-X cannot be run on 32-bit Windows. Thus I don't know how superior and powerful Cerberus-X is. Cerberus-X is a real miracle because I think that the syntax of Cerberus-X is so strange. Sorry...I cannnot agree with you. 2D game is still a big corner. Sure! These indie games raised much money on Kickstarter. All are 2D games: USD 63,218 £ 102,430 USD 120,335 USD 645,158 Cerberus-X was derived from Monkey 1. At first, Blitz3d and Monkey 1 were developed by Blitz Research. Actually, Blitz3d was more popular than Monkey 1 in the past. Blitz Research made them open-source several years ago. Perhaps the current developer of Cerberus-X made a wrong decision several years ago? Monkey 1 was a bad choice. Right? Blitz3D was a better choice! The current developer of Cerberus-X should have selected Blitz3D for further development several years ago.
