I haven't been on in a while so I thought I would check in. I wish I could say I was making some progress on the next release but I haven't really been doing much coding. But Ludum Dare is coming up this weekend and I have decided to compete again. This will be my 4th time entering and I am looking forward to it. Normally for Ludum Dare I start from scratch and don't use any previously written code but this time I am going to use everything at my disposal. I may even use my engine.
I am also working on finishing the tutorial I started a few years ago for making your own BASIC dialect. I have had a few people comment on my youtube videos recently asking me to finish that so I decided to go on head and knock that out.
Other than that, I have been working on a few other projects I have wanted to start for a long time and just kept putting them off. If I make any progress on any of those I will post it here.
I am mostly stuck in doors these days so I try to stay occupied. What has everyone else been doing?

Well, speaking for myself, not much really... I have a list of sites that I regularly visit several times a day... mainly 'basic' sites... Very little coding, even though we are mostly stuck at home, ideas and inspiration have 'left the building'... lol
I even got SO bored that I upgraded an old Naalaa 'pong' game... hmm... Food for thought... might try an RC version... Don't laugh... I know it's 'just' pong... I like the 'classics'... lol
Ok. Another competition. I thought that just one was enough pressure but four! The final line of a Rudyard Kipling poem, that was published in 1890, was "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din"...
Basic Dialect. The art of the gifted. Well beyond my meager skills... lol I would be interested in seeing how that tutorial works out. Regardless of the dialect, I'm speaking in regards to myself of course, using it to 'reproduce' a game made by another dialect as a basis of comparison, seems to be something I enjoy doing... Who knew? lol
Best of luck with the competition... and the tutorial...
Stuck inside... Bit of a sore point for "we Victorians"... We are all getting quite 'restless' with all these restrictions. We understand the reasons... but still... I think you guys would call it "cabin fever"? Our restrictions are beginning to ease as the daily number of covid cases are falling. A lot of anger about our State Government and the handling of the situation coupled with 'cabin fever' is not helping... Looking forward to 'normal'.
It's coffee time... all other projects are now officially 'on hold' until we have had our morning coffee. lol
Have a great day. Stay healthy and safe!

Its good to here things are going well. I live in the United States and we have not really gotten it under control for the most part. There are not many new cases where I am though so they are starting to lighten up on some of the restrictions. Hopefully things will be some what normal by this time next year.
I will be sure to post my entry for Ludum Dare.
I hope you are staying healthy and safe as well.

Since a few days I got my Colour Maximite 2 - and I must say it's amazing. Didn't have so much fun in recent years when I was programming in BASIC. Still learning the dialect though, it has some extensive sprite/graphics features and well it's just awesome. I can recommend it to anyone who likes BASIC programming and 2D games programming. I didn't build it myself - but that's possible - but ordered it by a reseller. Here's a comprehensive review by the 8-Bit guy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IA7REQxohV4&list=PLpch4trWVPHf587TjERLeVoP2vx1B00pL&index=3Stay healthy and safe.

I've seen several '8 bit guy' videos. Explains stuff that even I can understand... lol
That maximite is a nice machine! Impressive speed and no compiler! All in Basic as well... Cool. I'm going to guess that you might reproduce a 'compiled' version of a game to run on your maximite... just to compare... If you do please share your results?
Thanks for sharing.

I saw this video a few months ago. It looked awesome. 8-bit guy was also working on his own computer called the commander64 but I don't know if he is still working on that.
