Purebasic certainly looks interesting. The "free" versions seem to be "demos". Full version costs between 79 and 499 Euros (depending on the purpose) Single, educational or company uses. I cannot install the demo. Because I am running with the current version of Linux Mint, the library 'libgnome-2.0' (which Purebasic requires) has been either dropped or upgraded. Until Purebasic is compiled with the updated library or Purebasic releases a 'patch', that is as far as I can go, in regards to testing. Someone using Windows or Mac will have to run the demo.

Blitz language was created for the Amiga back in 1992. Blitz Basic 2 was released in 1993. Blitz Basic was then published for Microsoft in Oct 2000. BlitzPlus was released in Feb of 2003. BlitzMax released in 2004. *nix compilers released in 2005 Blitz3D SDK was released soon after.
28 Apr 2014, BlitzPlus, was released as Open-source.
