Well... The trend is continuing to showcase games via browsers... It seems to be inevitable that a 'game maker' and a browser unite... This union could produce some interesting stuff...
Thanks for sharing.

Interesting and at times, heated discussions, about OperGX and HTML5 etc... But, as this new potential partnership applies to me and my machine, it's not going to work. In the past I have successfully been able to use GameMaker 6 and 8 on my Linux machine but have never been able to use any of the current GameMaker Studios which is what YoYo will be using...
There is a method of configuring "Wine" on Linux to run GMS2 (with limited success - a lot of unfix-able errors) Will GMS be built to run 'natively' on Linux? YoYo says, "No". But they are developing a beta version to run on Mac (which is a *nix based OS).
The one good part is that the "creator" (basic) version is only US$39 per year but "developer and "console" versions are US$99 and US$799 per year receptively. There is an "Ultimate" version which will output to 'ALL' of the platforms that GMS supports for US$1,500 per year. $39 is looking pretty good... lol ($39 has a 30 day free trial)
Note: $39 will only output to the OS that it is installed on. (Win/Mac). $99 will output to Win, Mac and Ubuntu. $799 will output to either PS4, XBOXONE or Nintendo Switch (a version for each, not all) $1,500 will output to ALL plaforms...
Also: The games you make are yours. No royalty payments to YoYo...
Final note: OperaGX browser is only available for Windows and Mac

YoYo Games may think: Mac users are more willing to spend money. (than Linux users) Is GameMaker Studio too expensive for game developers? An survey of tools used by entrants in a game jam: ( Their discussion: www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/hxjxjv/engine_usage_breakdown_for_gmtk_jam_2020/)( Over 5000 entries in this contest: itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020 ) I am very surprised because Godot is so popular. Game developers like Godot more(compared with GameMaker Studio) because it is a free tool?

Game Maker is a great tool. Fairly easy to learn and use. Can create games without coding. Can also be fully coded. Once you have gotten used to it, you can develop games quite quickly. When it comes to Game Jams - quick is good... I have used Stencyl before... Don't. Just don't. I have not used Construct or Unity. Can't comment on those. I am still learning Godot. It can produce very nice 2D and 3D games. The learning curve is a little steep, well for me anyway... lol It will export to multiple platforms. Best part is the price and no royalties...
Regardless which tool is used, the game that keeps the player playing or keeps the player coming back for more, will be te game to beat.
Einstein was quoted to say, "Imagination is better than knowledge...". Imagine the game you want. Use the right tool to make it.

Game Maker is a great tool. Fairly easy to learn and use. Can create games without coding. Can also be fully coded. Once you have gotten used to it, you can develop games quite quickly. Convenience. I mean Convenience in Game Maker Language. Game Maker is so successful because of the Game Maker Language. Game Maker Language is so successful because of its convenience. The original creator(Mark Overmars) was very clever in designing the Game Maker Language 20 years ago. For example: If user wants to make a piece of a kind of object: IDNumberofThisBullet = instance_create(x, y, ObjBullet), a piece of bullet will appear on screen. Gamer Maker will generate a unique ID number for this piece of bullet. (IDNumberofThisBullet in this case) User can use this unique ID number to do all kinds of operations for this piece of bullet. If user wants to destroy this piece of bullet forever: instance_destroy() If user wants to destroy all pieces of bullets: instance_destroy(ObjBullet) This is a very, very convenient scripting language inside Game Maker. If other game dialects(RCBasic, AppGameKit, BlitzMax, etc.) are high level languages. Game Maker Language is a very high level language....YES!

Agreed. Game Maker Language (GML) is an easy to use built-in language, that is as you have correctly stated, convenient. It's library of commands are quite extensive with clear descriptions. Most suited for beginners and pro's alike. The term "high level" is relative to the times... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-level_programming_language#Relative_meaning Who knows, perhaps in years to come, rcbasic will be considered 'very high level' of the past... I still have some old GM6 and GM8 tutorials that I occasionally use... Having both text editor and simple graphics editor, built-in, is very convenient as well. I suppose if RCBasic had similar resources to that of the makers of Game Maker, AppGameKit, Blitz, etc, then we could give them all a 'run for their money'. RC's resources are limited as is development time. If we can learn to make applications with RC, then perhaps, the pressure on n00b can be relieved... (not complaining about development speed, n00b. Just trying to make a point...) Do I think RC can 'compete' with the others? Yes. Perhaps a better question, Will it? My caffeine levels are running too low... Probably why I seem to be rambling... lol

johnno56, Since now there are thousands of GameMaker users, Game Maker Language is a very popular programming language.(scripting language is also a kind of programming language.) A surprising discovery is that: Construct, only 1.7% and Stencyl, only 0.1%. Clickteam Fusion is not in the chart. GameMaker Studio and Godot defeated them successfully. Even Game Maker 4.3 is a so powerful tool. (We talked about Game Maker 4.3 in some old threads in this sub-forum.) I guess that Noob is very satisfied because RCBasic is more popular than several BASIC dialects.
aurel, You are right. In fact, I want to analyse this aspect. Nowadays there are so many game development tools...sure.
