For those of us that are old enough to remember the 1983 movie, War Games.... The computer "voice" sounded so "mechanical". I have been tinkering with the program 'eSpeak' (http://espeak.sourceforge.net/download.html) I know. I know. There are far better speech engines out there, but I wanted one that sounded similar to the movie. I will not bore you with the program I tested with espeak. but instead give you the command to access espeak. a$ = "Program has completed. Press any key to continue." system("espeak -v en-gb -p 40 " + chr$(34) + a$ + chr$(34)) and a$ = "Hey. That is not the any key." system("espeak -v en-gb -p 20 " + chr$(34) + a$ + chr$(34)) or you can execute from a command line: espeak -v en-gb -p 40 a$ (or the sentence within quotes) -v en-gb - en-gb (voice type - English Great Britain) -p 40 - (pitch - lower the deeper) -v and -p are only a couple of the many commands. If you decide to try eSpeak, let me know what you think, and how you used it. I will not be offended if you choose not to install eSpeak... yet...
