Geany shipped with the Windows version has a dark theme set. After entering the bracket, the cursor is invisible. After switching to the default theme, you can't see the cursor at all.
How can I change it?

Rosy, The geany.conf file only has two references to the cursor. "scroll lines around cursor" and "cursor blink true or false". There doesn't seem to be anything to either switch on or off the cursor. (I could be wrong) This may not be related... The underscore line disappeared from all my programs, when viewed or edited via Geany, but was ok using other editors. In my case, the default font size offset, had to be tweaked and has been fine ever since. Because there may not be an option to switch on/off the cursor, then that may point to a theme issue... Geany has access to many themes... If you haven't already, can you try a different theme from www.geany.org/download/themes/ then see if that makes a difference. In the meantime I will continue researching... J

Rosy,
Just found something that may work.
Start Geany. Go to 'tools > configuration files > filetypes common.
Scroll down to about line # 47: You should see '#~ caret=caret' '#~' is the same as Basic's Remark (rem) Remove '#~' and leave just caret=caret This will force the cursor to accept a colour. eg: caret=0xFF0000 will make the cursor RED 0xFFFF00 YELLOW 0xFF8000 ORANGE 0xFFFFFF WHITE etc This will overwrite the default cursor colour. To return to the default colour replace the deleted '#~' Save the file and restart Geany.
Let me know if that works.

n00b and rosy, Almost... But not quite. From the Geany GUI: Select Tools > Configuration Files > filetypes.common Insert these two lines at the top of the file. [styling] line_height=0;2; Save the file but do not exit yet... This should see the lines slightly adjust and display the underscore... If "2" is ok for you, then exit. J

I have installed 'Atom' and 'VS Code'. Both work really well. A little heavy on resources but they work. I use Geany because, unlike Atom and VS, there are very few 'bells and whistles' to get used to. I am not heavy into coding, so using Geany is enough for me...
