Thanks Aurel. I am not a huge fan of FB, but it is one of the 'Basics' that can be compiled, to run flawlessly on Linux. I will be keeping an eye on that forum. Thank you for sharing.

I started using Naalaa 6 some years back (mainly because they have a Linux version) but other things (RC in particular) have gained a little more of my attention. Naalaa 7 has recently moved to Beta status and found it performs better than N6. A tilemap editor has just been developed. I have started re-learning Naalaa... A little frustrating at times but mostly fun...
Of course, taking up N7, meant that I had to "drop" SDLBasic... I try not to have too many languages floating around in the old brain. Besides, SDL seems to have stalled on development and website activity... Already "handed in my notice"... End of an era... *sigh*
In regards to RC, I am going to concentrate on using the RCB Studio for coding... I will still use Geany for other stuff... But I figured it would be good to be seen using the products created by RCBasic for RCBasic projects... lol
How is MicroA's progress going? Any important earth shattering features added?

Currently not too much , i have made some fixing in error checking and testing more array operation, so far it looks ok i also need to improve or better to say add expression evaluator in more places than is now. as you may know on Linux side i still use q4os even i am not impressed by that distro i made mistake i should probably switch back to LXLE because running much faster on my machine and i can play with baCon more ..or maybe with qb64 linux version bacon is fine but converting time is really large and whole process is slow

Choosing the right "distro" can be a bit tricky. All depends on what you are after. Choosing a "lite" distro because the PC or Laptop is getting a bit old, or the hardware maybe a bit low on resources, would be the way to go. Distrowatch.com has a large selection. The "numbers" on the screen show how may hits per day. In my opinion, this is not an accurate measure of how "good" the distro is... Reading the reviews, although a bit tedious, is more accurate.
I am curious as to why you are wanting to use Linux? I figured that you would be a devout Windows user... Ah. I see... Are you planning on defecting to Linux? Trying to escape from the evil clutches of Mr. Gates? Moo Ha Ha....

defecting linux...heh no i would try to make some things using BaCon or QB64 seems that BaCon need big amount of time for converting but making gui apps in bacon is let say easier than in qb64 because qb64 don't have any gui on its own in linux version when in windows version we can use api like member Zak do i want test my tokenizer and do some simple things i don't have in plan to become just linux user...

QB64 has 'inform' to create application GUI's... It makes some pretty cool stuff, but for me anyway, it is a very steep learning curve... As I do not create applications with QB64 I did not bother to continue with 'inform'...

I will be keeping an eye on that forum. Don't bother. I've been watching it for last couple of weeks. It's dead. Which is a shame, because, theoretically, it's an ideal place for me. I guess it's the end of my little dream about a forum for hobby programmers coding in different languages. Should I be surprised? Well, considering the fact that it's imposible to gather BASIC programmers in one place, I will say "no". My recent experience in retro-coding world was rather depressing. First I was banned for sharing my opinion, then I was threatened with a ban for explaining what's happend to me and then I was banned for sharing facts related to the place I was banned from. Like every single place wants to be a small isolated island with no connection to the big world and with topics becoming blogs no one reads. I don't get it.

RetroCoders Community Forum is ALIVE AND WELL AND ACTIVE - thank you for asking and showing an interest in it - and nothing is stopping anyone from joining it... we are a freeBASIC / C / C++ / Other Programming forum...
the main reason we opened RetroCoders is cause the Main FreeBASIC community is a rough and tough place and we felt there was a need for a place for the programmers and members who fall short and don't fit to the profile of the Main community... on retrocoders you can find a small variety of programmers from the very beginner programmers and hobby programmers to the real high pro programmers - you can find programs from the most simple ones to a full fledge project on GitHub all done in FreeBASIC - you can find simple games people coded for fun and learning as well as YouTube tutorials for the absolute beginners and demos of apps and programs done in freeBASIC - you can find links to freeBASIC libraries as well as new libraries (like the FANN Lib) - and people seem to love it and visit and some decide to join...
we are not a replacement to FreeBASIC Main Site and Community, but we are here to stay as a place for the underdogs and outcasts of freeBASIC/BASIC/Hoppy Programming communities
kind regards Ron77
