tbird Can you try a different project and select a different output folder and see if you get the same results? I don't have Windows 11 so I have not tested it and just want to get as much info as possible. Also, can you copy the log from the distribute window and post it?

I am trying to work on two methods. The main one will look re markedly like the QB IDE colour selector... Actually, almost a blatant copy... just to prototype... not to publish. I have no idea how to use GUI libraries, so everything is being 'drawn'... beginning to wish I had used images... lol The second method is to parser the QB64 theme 'string' and 'extract' the colours to create the RC scheme file. The second method may be the easiest but does not lend itself to 'creativity'... Basically flying by the seat of my pants on this one... Not sure how to do it... but will give it a good try... Fingers crossed... lol

johnno56 Have you had any problems with the distro tool? I am trying to track down the issue tbird reported. It seems to be working just fine for me but I want to try to get as much data as possible.

Hey n00b , sorry for the late response I am so busy lately. I copied the output from the editor.
CURRENT_DUR = C:\Users\ds_65\Downloads\rcbasic_win_318\rcbasic_win_318\rcbasic\tools\dist GetTextSize Error: No font at 0 Error: Could not change directory APP_PKG_ARGS$ = TGT_PLATFORM= PROJECT_NAME="" PROJECT_CATEGORY= APP_TYPE=Application TERMINAL_FLAG= PROJECT_DIR="" OUTPUT_DIR="C:\Users\ds_65\RCBasic Apps" ENABLE_WEB_THREADS=false ICON="C:\Users\ds_65\Downloads\rcbasic_win_318\rcbasic_win_318\rcbasic\tools\dist\icon\rcbasic.png" SOURCE="Main.bas" ANDROID_APP_ID="com.mycompany.myApp" ANDROID_ORIENTATION="" ANDROID_KEYSTORE="" ANDROID_KEYSTORE_PASS="" ANDROID_ALIAS="" ANDROID_ALIAS_PASS="" ANDROID_RELEASE=0 ANDROID_DEBUG=1 ANDROID_JAVA_DIR="" ANDROID_HOME=

It does this for all builds, and makes no difference where I do the directory. Is this completely self contained or is there any enviroment variables that need to be set?
I will also try on my Linux machine, and update on those results, if time allows I will also test on my windows 10 machine and see if that makes a difference.

tbird Thanks for the log. To answer your question, it is completely self contained with the exception of the Android Environment variables. I will see if I can replicate the issue to find out what is happening.

tbird Whenever you have time, could doing these steps: 1. Move RCBasic out of your downloads folder 2. Move the location of your project 3. Double click on your project before running the dist tool Let me know if these produce any results. I can't find any immediate reason why it would fail but as I have mentioned before, I don't have Windows 11 so I have only tested this with Windows 10, Ubuntu, and PopOS. I have 2 different Windows 10 computers and it worked straight out of the box on both. I have note been able to replicate this issue yet but I will continue to look into it.

n00b. I haven't install the Android software yet. I tried to run a sample file in studio and got the message, "no project has been selected". Looks like I will have to set some time aside to study the Editor documentation... lol I am hoping to have most of my system running properly within the next day or so...

I think he is having issues even with the desktop platforms so just testing Windows and Linux would be a good start.

n00b , it makes no difference where RC is located, and when I double click on my project then make app, the first errors disappear about cant open/create app.properties, but the error log of failure to make app still persists, but it changed to something that is slightly confusing to me:
CURRENT_DUR = C:\Development\rcbasic_win_318\rcbasic\tools\dist Build Path: C:\Windows\system32\rcbasic\rcbasic_32\rcbasic_build.exe Build Command: rcbasic_build main.bas in C:\Users\ds_65\OneDrive\Desktop\RC_Test\Testies Failed to build Source File: (main.bas) A) Why would the build path be in windows System32 folder?
B) Why would it be using rcbasic_32 on a 64 bit build?
I'm a little lost.
Thanks.

tbird I was able to replicate your original issue by downloading rcbasic to a computer I probably shouldn't have. I did manage to fix the issue by moving the project to a folder on my desktop. That 32-bit issue was an oversight on my part. You can switch to using 64-bit by opening config\rcbasic_edit.config and changing everything that has a 32 in it to 64. You can also probably fix that Build Path issue by setting the absolute path to rcbasic_build.exe in the rcbasic_edit.config file. In fact, try changing every path in that config to an absolute path and see if that fixes the issues you are having.

I have tried multiple variations of where RC is, where the project is, and where the output directory is, I have changed the config to all absolute paths, your editor compiles and runs the program, when I go to distribute it throws the exact same error as first time cannot make app.properties.

I think I might know what the issue could be. I am going to make some minor changes and upload the editor so you can try it.
Thanks for your patience with this.

n00b, absolutely no worries. There is no rush and panic just thought I would try it out on Windows 11, life will always get in the way.

tbird Try replacing rcbasic_edit.exe with this and see if it fixes your problem. rcbasic_edit.zip (675.95 KB)
