I am eagerly waiting for N7 as well... But, until the Linux version is done, for me Wine is the way to go.
Marcus, Naalaa developer, said that he will start working on the Linux version once the Windows version is running properly... No time-frame as yet. N7 is not an upgrade of N6. It is a complete rewrite... Could take some time...

when i was using windows, i had many linux distributions under vmplayer. in full screen mode, you could think it's a real computer. maybe the author of naalaa should consider this possibility. even 3d is possible with vmplayer or virtualbox.

I am somewhat familiar with VM's, not fully efficient, but I can muddle my way through lol... When nostalgia sets in, I will often find myself tinkering with WinXP... and sometimes I will test out other Linux distros as well... At the moment, using Wine to run Naalaa, is fine for me... I am not sure what video system is required by his Tile Map and Ray Casting Editors, but if needs be, I can simply switch to a VM... I already have Virtualbox installed but have not consider Vmplayer... Do you have much experience with 'player'? If so, what is your opinion of it?

If so, what is your opinion of it? under windows, vmplayer was the right choice. it was stable and fast for most of the systems i tested. but under linux, i compiled qemu with virgil3d. it's equally stable and fast and above all opensource. a little more complicated to manage than vmplayer or virtualbox. that said, the command line gives a total control of qemu. all my vms under linux are managed by qemu.

Once the Windows version of N7 is fully functional, a Linux version will be created... It is just a matter of patience...
