The movement is quite smooth - left and right. I like the "idle" animation... Cool... I could not figure out how to make the player "jump" up onto a platform. It was only a mater of time before the "spider" creature got the player...

Ehh ... What do you usually do to jump on somewhere? You press left and right to jump at the same time ... Compiling with SDL is a bit complicated ... Works with mingw, description here: pl.wikibooks.org/wiki/BasicC/BasicSDL

I finally figured out that pressing left and right made the player jump. But there was no movement to the left or right when jumping. Usually, pressing the left 'or' right as you press the 'jump' key (space or up), the player will jump 'and' move either left or right. Press left and the player moves left. Press right and the player moves right. Press left 'and' right and the player cannot move left or right. As pressing both will cancel the left and right movement. I hope I am making sense...

It looks like I can't write easy games, and that's what I tried ... I didn't have any problems ... I'm going to make a movie ...
