Pop_OS is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
As I could not get RCB to run on Ubuntu 20.04, I attempted U22.04.1, U20.04.5 and also the Mate versions of both. All installation of the OS failed... Some problem with the ISO images...
All of the following on a fresh install. Nothing but the OS.
Pop installed without issue. Installed Geany and executed then exited... Downloaded and extracted RC3.19r3. Within RC3.19r3 directory: ./install.sh (entire install completed ok) Ran the RC geany script. Within Geany' 'Set Build Commands':
Modified 'compile','gen key' ,'execute' and 'distribute' to the appropriate directories.
Loaded "beast Demo" to test Geany and RCB. "Beast" compiled successfully but failed to execute.
Following message appeared:
/home/john/Programs/rcbasic/rcbasic: error while loading shared libraries:
libSDL2-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ------------------ (program exited with code: 127) Press return to continue
I do not recall having to install SDL2... or did I do something wrong again?
I think I need more coffee... Installing 5 Linux OS's is about as much as I can handle... lol
ps: Forgot to mention: Beast ran ok via Studio. But when exiting Studio 'rcbasic_studio_run' was still running. Had to terminate process via system monitor. Also, in reference to SDL2, you mentioned... "LD_LIBRARY_PATH before launching geany.". How exactly is that done?

In your .bashrc file, put this line:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/Programs/rcbasic/lib
