I wanted to know what people would like to see a tutorial on that they may not know how to do or are wondering how to best do it in RCBasic?
I figured that making specific tutorials would probably be a better way of explaining things than trying to write longer descriptions in the manual.

In all my years of dabbling with code, I do believe, that this may be the first time I have heard a forum admin ask such a question! Bravo!
Pretty much all I know about Basic comes from tutorials. I could not recommend them any higher! Originally it was magazine listings... when the internet arrived it was word or pdf documents. When the speed improved, I started collecting videos of this tutorial and that... Then collecting whole series of videos...
To cut a long story short, most of them were about 2D games. From Pong, Kong and Invaders to raytracing and even old-school text adventures.
The logical place to start would be the list of RCBasic commands... But these days, in the age of 'immediate gratification', that may seem to be a little 'dry' and time consuming... Heathens! Personally, I like shooters and platformers. What I would like is a tutorial on how to make a side scrolling platformer with parallax backgrounds. I have some vague ideas on how, but vague, does not get the game on the screen... lol
Perhaps a "poll" that would include genre's and utilities? Oh... There is an idea... Tools/utilities to make games... all written with RCB... Speaking of utilities... I never did get to finish that Sprite Editor because I did not know how to add extra functions. I originally wanted an editor to make sprites/tiles for games... and not a clone of Gimp... lol
In regards for asking about tutorials: There is an old saying, "Be careful what you wish for as you just might get it." and the ever popular, "Do you really want to open that can of worms?" lol
It's almost 5:30am and I must get our coffee's made...
Tutorials? Bravo!

Thanks for the feedback. If you are interested in tools for rcbasic, I can start a series of tutorials on using my engine. I did make a platform game tutorial video a while back but I can revisit it.

Cool... I have located 'The Engine' and I have downloaded the tutorial video. Does the video come with popcorn? If not, I can settle for a coffee, in the meantime...

n00b I'm actually writing a small tutorial series for RCBasic, I'm just going for the basics(haha) then working my way into things I need to learn as well, I want to get into the 3D stuff by the conclusion of it.

Awesome. I am looking forward to seeing it. I needed to go over more basic graphics content for a while and I would like to see some more 3D content so that is greatly appreciated.

Looking at the other tutorials, I may adjust where my starting point is. johnno56 wrote some good tuts on collision and simple movement, maybe I can incorporate those, with full credit of course. I am making a brute force tutorial series into some games and don't want to reiterate over what has been covered already. 1 - quick overview of windows and canvases 2 - loading and drawing images 3 - organizing variables to do with game handling 4 - level/grid creation 5 - moving and jumping mechanics 6 - simple platformer 7 - add sounds and background music 8 - add projectiles and more complicated collision detection 9 - make a boss battle That's my overlay at the moment

What! No aliens? LOL... Sounds like a lot or work and a lot of fun! ps: Credit not needed as the ideas were gleaned from multiple courses on the 'net'... I too shall be looking forward to your projects... Cool...

I just wanted to give a quick update on this. I have been working on the tutorial but over the course of making it I realized that there are some things I should add to the editor and library to make certain task easier so I am doing that. Expect the next version of n00b engine to be out soon along with the tutorial.
