How's everyone doing? I'm slowly picking away at physics in c++ and bullet library with RC, while also tackling newborn calves and enjoying the warming up season.

I have also been pretty busy. I do check the forum everyday for people's questions but I assume nobody is having issues and nobody has anything they want to share.

I've been super inactive since I joined, but that's mostly down to me just straight up not having much time (or, more importantly, energy) to sit down and make something in RC Basic (although I really want to).

Welcome to the forum. Not many of us post stuff everyday but I know quite a few people do atleast check the forum everyday so if you have any questions just feel free to ask. I have been focused on finishing my game lately which should be launching on steam this week. Other than that, a lot of work has been going into RCBasic 4.0 which will be the largest update we have ever done. We are hoping to have that out by maybe early next year.

Heck yeah! New update hype! It sounds like 4.0 would be the best point to start learning how to use RCB.

... hmm... RCB 4.0 may be ready by early next year... why not get a head start by learning RCB 3.21?
Where are my manners? Welcome!
Just so that we can figure out how best to help you, do you have any programming experience? You're not a programming guru that has been sent here to make us look foolish, are you? lol Nah. I'm only kidding! You do not need programming skills to make 'me' look foolish... lol
Seriously, if there is anything you need to know about RCB, big or small, just ask. We are here to help...
Again. Welcome.

I resurrected my Dell G3, so I have a portable Windows machine to work on! (...) Where are my manners? Welcome! I do have prior programming experience with different dialects of Basic, Python, and C++ (all past encounters, so it's been a hot minute since I last did any coding). My evening job has been quiet, I haven't had an appointment with a student in a week or so(?), but having energy is another matter. I'll definitely be asking questions if/when I have them!

da12thkind If you get a chance, look through the examples. A lot of completed games and demos we have made over the years is in there. I also bundled the level editor and library I made for my game in there. Also, if you check in the software section you can grab the Calamity3D library which is a library that allows you to do some primitive 3D (like playstation/sega saturn level).

Oh okay! That's awesome! Also, I just remembered that there were actually three dialects of Basic I had messed around with back in the day: Visual Basic, Blitz Plus, and Petite Computer (a DSi Ware program).
Back when the 3DS eShop was still open, I grabbed another programming app called SmileBASIC, but I have yet to touch it... (^_^)"

Back when the 3DS eShop was still open, I grabbed another programming app called SmileBASIC, but I have yet to touch it... (^_^)" RCBasic is probably closest to Blitz in terms of features. It does not currently support any game consoles but it does support almost every other platform (windows, linux, mac, android, ios, and web). I would like to get support for the switch but getting access to the Nintendo SDKs is neccessary to make that happen. If you have any experience with any other language then it isn't too hard to get started. Here is a really basic example to show what the code looks like: win = 0 'There are a total of 8 windows available in each program WindowOpen(win, "tst", WINDOWPOS_CENTERED, WINDOWPOS_CENTERED, 640, 480, WINDOW_VISIBLE, 1)
canvas_num = 0 'A total of 8 canvases are available (0 - 7)
CanvasOpen(canvas_num, 640, 480, 0, 0, 640, 480, 1)
img = 0 'Image slot to load image into. There is a total of 4096 image slots available (0 - 4095) x = 50 y = 50
LoadImage(img, "tst.bmp")
While WindowExists(win) 'Loops while the window is open. This will end the loop when the window is closed. ClearCanvas DrawImage(img, x, y) Update() Wend

Oh interesting! I definitely can see the similarities between RC Basic and Blitz! I'm already starting to think up of previous projects that I could make with this program. (I just need to sit down and learn how it use it...)
