For the next few releases, I am going to put a heavy focus into optimizing the android port. I am also going to continue to work on improving the manual along with the usual bug fixes.
I am working on a new set of tutorials. But instead of having the video and written tutorials seperate, they are both going to be combined. So I will be releasing the written tutorials alongside the video tutorials at the same time. I will release 5 tutorials on intro to programming topics, which will cover the tutorials that are already written plus one extra one. After that I am going straight into graphics, sound, keyboard and mouse input, joysticks, and all that other fun stuff. I am also thinking about doing one advanced tutorial a week on various different effects. Some things I was thinking about was maybe a tutorial on how to achieve a Mode-7 effect, log scaling, parallax, tile scrolling, and anything else I could think of. If anyone is interested in that let me know.
The first 5 tutorials should be done in the first week of January. After that I am aiming for putting out one tutorial a week. As far as point releases go, they are going to slow down alot. The reason I was able to make as much progress as I did in the past 2 months is that I left my previous job. I will hopefully have another job soon so I won't have as much time to dedicate to this. I am also working on a bigger game project that I have been working on for half a year now. Originally I was working on it with some friends from work but they have all abandoned the project so I am working on that almost completely by myself. It is going to be a commercial release. And yes, it is using RCBasic
The amount of progress on this project in 2018 is going to depend on the amount of people using RCBasic and helping out. Right now the biggest help I need is not really in coding but in helping with documentation, producing demos, writing tutorials (seriously I have written the entire manual and every tutorial myself so far), and helping answer questions on the forums (alot of people have abandoned the forum because I wasn't able to constantly answer questions myself). It takes a lot to run an open source project and any help would be appreciated.
With all that said, I hope anyone reading this has a happy new year.
