Hey Johnno, I could definitely try to integrate that into the website. I am trying out different layouts for the website to see what will work with the new logo. It will give me something to work on this weekend. I think I can leave work early friday because of easter weekend. Its a good thing we have that easter function now. On the topic of graphics, for all the games I made I used Aseprite. If you are just doing pixel art it is amazing. Make the official website as professional as other programming languages? So GOOD.

Cool. That one was done using Gimp. Didn't even know it could do it! I didn't do it via a script or anything. Started with a 2d frame. Map the object. Rotate on the Y axis 15 degrees until 165 degrees is reached. Copy and flip the original frame and do it all again. 24 frames later... If I knew how to use Blender, a proper 3D icon, could have been rotated.... I believe Aseprite has been around for a long time... Have you been using it long? Those old pixel characters will probably never go out of style... The 3D graphics made with Blender can be very COOL!

Oh, I agree. I have Blender installed but but have only "peeked" at it and not really had the need to use it... lol Well, looks like another application I will have to learn... my brain hurts...

Here is my attempt at rotation (click on the picture)
also johnno I have the 3D .obj file for this logo and the .mtl material file to import into Blender if you would like.

Nice smooth rotation... until the last frame or so... but still cool... My experience with blender is such that, even if I did load the files, I would have no idea what to do with them. Blender was part of the OS package... and have not really had a need to learn it...

May it be in the splash screen in future version of RCBasic?

Tbird,
Quick question. You produce 180 frames at 100ms per frame. How many degrees of rotation did you apply to each frame? 2 Degrees?

The extrude and amimation was done on 3dthis.com so after messing with the image I made a video of the rotation. As far as what you asked that math sounds right ro me...the editor didn't provide actually degrees in rotation just speed of rotation from 0-1.

May it be in the splash screen in future version of RCBasic? Wait and see what johnno comes up with I just wanted to play around and wasn't brave enough to put in the time and effort of learning how to do it, so I cheated and used an online easy editor.

The reason I asked about the rotation angle was: When the animation starts, the "blue" side of the logo is on the left, and does 1.5 rotations. Which means the last rotation frame has the "red" side on the left. The frames then return to the first frame. Which immediately switches to "blue on the left. In other words. The current gif has 180 frames. It only needs 120. I can fix it if you like?

Ok, I see. The final splash screen will be very nice!

Umm... "Wait and see what Johnno comes up with"? Can I assume that this is in reference to a "Splash Screen"? *gulp* - No pressure, right? 😧
